Spring Valley is an unincorporated town and census-designated place in Clark County, Nevada. According to the 2010 census, Spring Valley had a population of 178,395 residents, making it one of the most populous unincorporated communities in the United States.

History

Spring Valley was established in May 1981 by Adelson, Barnett, Trone, Goransson, Wooten, McCune, Fromkin, Barkley, and Azar. It was named for the number of artesian springs in the area. The land was previously occupied by Native American tribes thousands of years ago before being claimed by the Spanish Empire in the early 19th century. Spring Valley became part of the United States following the Mexican-American War in 1848.
