Henderson is a city in southern Nevada, located in Clark County. With a population of over 300,000 as of 2020, it is the second largest city in Nevada after Las Vegas.

History

The area where Henderson now sits was first inhabited by Native American tribes including the Anasazi and Paiute. It was later explored by Spanish explorers. In the 1800s, the Mormon farmers settled the area now known as Henderson.

The city itself was established in 1941 when magnesium production began in the area during World War II. It was named after Senator Charles B. Henderson who represented Nevada in the Senate from 1918-1921.
