Hispanic or Latino of any race were 8.1% of the population.

The median age was 37.7 years old. 24.5% of the population was under the age of 18 while 13.5% was aged 65 or older. There were 52.6% females and 47.4% males.

The average household size was 2.51 people and the average family size was 3.05 people. The median household income was $71,689 and the per capita income was $32,548. About 5.0% of families and 6.5% of the population were below the poverty line.

History of Oak Creek

The Oak Creek area was originally inhabited by Native American tribes including the Potawatomi, Fox, Mascouten and Kickapoo tribes. In 1835, the land was ceded to the United States government. The first settlers of European descent arrived in the 1840s.

Oak Creek was incorporated as a city in 1955. It developed as a suburb of Milwaukee due to its proximity. In the 1960s, a large amount of residential development occurred in Oak Creek to accommodate the growing population.
