Janesville is located at 42°41′16′′N 89°1′15′′W in south central Wisconsin. It sits on the Rock River, about halfway between Madison and Chicago. The city has a total area of 24.64 square miles, of which 24.09 square miles is land and 0.55 square miles is water.
