Linton Hall is a census-designated place in Prince William County, Virginia, United States. The population was 5,379 at the 2010 census. Linton Hall is located south of Manassas and close to the Quantico Marine Corps Base.

History

Linton Hall has a rich history dating back to the 18th century. The area was originally home to plantations and farms. In 1742, James Ball Sr. established Linton Hall Plantation, which became a prominent tobacco plantation in Virginia. The original Linton Hall mansion still stands today and is a historic landmark in the community. During the Civil War, several skirmishes were fought in the area, including the Battle of Blackburn's Ford in 1861.

After the Civil War, Linton Hall began transitioning from an agricultural community to a more residential area. Housing developments were constructed in the 1950s and 60s to accommodate the growing suburban population near Washington D.C. Today, Linton Hall retains some of its rural heritage but is primarily a commuter suburb.
