Taylorsville is a city in Salt Lake County, Utah, United States. It is part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. The population was 58,657 at the 2010 census. Taylorsville was incorporated from the Taylorsville-Bennion CDP and portions of the Kearns CDP on April 24, 1996. The city is located adjacent to interstate 215 and Bangerter Highway.

According to the 2020 census, the population of Taylorsville was 61,811. This makes it the 6th largest city in Utah. The population density was 5,746 people per square mile. The racial makeup of the city was 72.3% White, 1.9% Black or African American, 0.9% Native American, 3.9% Asian, and 17.8% from other races. 30.1% of the population was Hispanic or Latino of any race.

History

The area that is now Taylorsville was originally settled in 1848 by Mormon pioneers. It was known as North Jordan and was home to Bennion, Murray, Midvale, and other small settlements. In 1969, Taylorsville was formed from the unincorporated area of Salt Lake County known as Taylorsville-Bennion. It operated as a Census-designated place until 1996 when it was incorporated as a city.
