Roy is a city in Weber County, Utah, United States. As of 2020, Roy had a population of 41,583 making it the 9th largest city in Utah. Roy got its name from a local school teacher named Roy Gohna who established the original townsite in the area in 1876.

History of Roy

The first settlers came to the Roy area in 1876 and began establishing farms near the Weber River. A post office was established in Roy in 1880. In 1894, the Utah Idaho Sugar Company built a sugar factory in Roy which brought more jobs and residents to the area. Roy was officially incorporated as a town in 1937.
