Mission Bend is a census-designated place in unincorporated western Harris County, Texas, United States. The population was 36,501 at the 2010 census. Considered to be part of the Houston metropolitan area, Mission Bend sits adjacent to the city of Houston and near Sugar Land. It is known as a family-friendly community with excellent schools, affordable homes, and a strong local economy.

History of Mission Bend

Mission Bend has a rich history dating back to the 1800s. The area was originally inhabited by the Karankawa and Atakapan tribes. Early settlers moved into the area in the 1830s and by the 1850s, several sugarcane plantations had been established. The town of Mission, founded in 1937, was a key transportation hub.
