Hurst is a city located in the U.S. state of Texas within Tarrant County. As of the 2020 census, the population was 40,981 making it the 16th largest city in Tarrant County. The city is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.

History

Hurst dates back to the mid-1800s when it was still primarily agricultural land. It wasn't until the 1900s that the city really began to take shape. In 1952, the town officially incorporated and elected a city government. Over the decades, Hurst grew rapidly as many people moved into the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Today, it is a thriving suburb with its own schools, businesses, and attractions.

As of the 2020 census, Hurst had a population of 40,981 making it the 16th largest city in Tarrant County. Hurst saw rapid growth throughout the late 1900s and early 2000s. Between 1990 and 2000 alone, the population grew over 50%. While growth has slowed in recent years, Hurst remains a sizable suburb in the metroplex.
