Keizer is a city located in Marion County, Oregon, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 40,855, making it the second-most populous city in the Salem Metropolitan Statistical Area after Salem.

History

Keizer was settled in the early 1840s by Robert and Anna Keizur. Their original 640-acre donation land claim was located near the home of fellow settler Thomas Dove Keizur, Robert's cousin. In 1857, Robert Keizer built a sawmill with partner John Brooks which was operated until 1863. The city was incorporated as Keizer in 1982 after a contentious political battle between the heavily residential Keizer Bottom and predominantly agricultural Keizer Station districts.

As of the 2020 census, the population of Keizer was 40,855. It is the second most populous city in the Salem Metropolitan Statistical Area after the nearby city of Salem. The racial makeup of Keizer is 79.7% White, 1.7% African American, 1.1% Native American, 2.5% Asian, 0.6% Pacific Islander, 10.4% from other races, and 4.0% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino residents of any race make up 20.3% of the population.

Keizer Rapids Park is a 95 acre community park located along the Willamette River. It features a 23,000 sq ft dog park, paths and trails, picnic shelters, a playground, and access to fishing along the river. The park frequently hosts community events.
