Strongsville is a city located in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. With a population of around 44,000 as of the 2020 census, it is a medium-sized suburb of Cleveland.

History

Strongsville was first settled in 1816 and was officially incorporated as a village in 1927. The city takes its name from settler John Stoughton Strong. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, Strongsville was a rural farming community known for its cabbage and tomato crops. After World War II, Strongsville experienced a population boom as it became a commuter suburb of Cleveland. The interstate highway system and new housing developments drew middle-class families to Strongsville in the 1970s-1990s.
