Reynoldsburg is a city in Fairfield, Franklin, and Licking counties in the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the city population was 39,750, making it the 14th largest city in Ohio. Reynoldsburg is located in east-central Ohio just east of Columbus and is considered a suburb of the Columbus metropolitan area.

History

Reynoldsburg was originally called Franklin after Benjamin Franklin. The area was settled in the early 19th century. On March 1, 1886, the village was incorporated as Reynoldsburg, named after John C. Reynolds, the original owner of the town site. Over the years, Reynoldsburg grew from a small village into a fast-growing residential community. Significant growth occurred in the post-World War II era.

Reynoldsburg is located at 39°56′11′′N 82°47′55′′W. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 14.49 square miles, of which 14.33 square miles is land and 0.16 square miles is water.

As of the 2020 census, there were 39,750 people, 14,631 households, and 10,622 families residing in the city. The population density was 2,774.8 inhabitants per square mile. The racial makeup of the city was 64.6% White, 24.4% African American, 0.3% Native American, 3.3% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 1.2% from other races, and 6.1% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.1% of the population.
