History

Webster was originally part of the Pultneyville hamlet within the town of Williamson. In 1840, the citizens of Pultneyville decided to set off and form their own town, named after famous New York statesman Daniel Webster. It started off as an agricultural community, but soon became an important commerce and transportation hub between Syracuse and Rochester.
