Eastchester is a town in Westchester County, New York. According to the 2020 census, the population of Eastchester is 32,166. Eastchester is known for its historic sites, parks, schools and sense of community.

History of Eastchester

Eastchester has a long and storied history dating back to the 17th century. The land was originally home to the Wickquasgeck Indians before being purchased by Anne Hutchinson and her followers in 1642. They established the village of Hastings-on-Hudson. After Hutchinson was banished, the land was bought by Thomas Pell in 1654 as part of the historic Pelham Purchase. The town of Eastchester was officially incorporated in 1895 out of parts of the towns of Westchester and Mount Pleasant.
