Wayne is a village located primarily in DuPage County with a small section in Kane County in Illinois. As of the 2010 census, the village had a population of 2,431 residents. Despite its small size, Wayne has a rich history and several attractions for visitors and residents.

History

Wayne was first settled in 1836 and was originally known as Wayne Station. The village was named after General "Mad" Anthony Wayne, a hero of the Revolutionary War. By the 1870s, Wayne had grown into a small community with a railway depot, shops, churches, and a school. The town was officially incorporated in 1901.
