Maine 2 is a village located in Livingston County, Illinois, United States. As of the 2020 census, the village had a population of 199 residents. Maine 2 was originally settled in the 1850s and was officially incorporated in 1969. The village was named after the state of Maine, which many of the early settlers were from.

History

Maine 2 has its roots as a farming community, with fertile prairie soil that attracted settlers in the mid-19th century. The town was platted in 1869 when the Vermont, Central & Pacific Railroad was extended to that point. Early settlers Peter Folsom and Hiram Fellows, both from Maine, gave the town its name. Maine 2 was officially incorporated as a village on April 15, 1969.
