Homer is a village located in Champaign County, Illinois, United States. As of the 2020 census, the village had a population of 1,193 residents.

History

Homer was founded in 1837 and was likely named after the Greek poet Homer. The village was incorporated on April 24, 1893. In its early history, Homer was primarily an agricultural community. The arrival of the railroad in the late 1800s helped Homer grow into a trading center for area farmers.
