Evanston is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States, directly north of downtown Chicago. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 75,302, making it the 87th largest city in the United States. Evanston is home to Northwestern University.

History

According to the 2020 census, Evanston has a population of 75,302 people. The racial makeup of the city is 65.6% White, 18.1% Black or African American, 0.2% Native American, 8.6% Asian, 0.0% Pacific Islander, 4.6% from other races, and 2.9% from two or more races. 14.8% of the population is Hispanic or Latino of any race.
