Fort Boise City is a city located in Ada County in the southwestern part of Idaho. The city has a rich history stemming back to the early 1800s when it started as a fur trading post.

History

Fort Boise was originally founded in 1834 as a fur trading post of the British Hudson's Bay Company located along the Snake River. It served as an important stop along the Oregon Trail. In 1863, the United States Army established Fort Boise to protect miners and settlers in the region. A town site developed around the fort which was incorporated as Boise City in 1866. With the arrival of the railroad in the 1880s, the city became a commercial hub for the area. Boise City later became the state capital of Idaho in 1890. Over the years, the city continued to grow into an important economic center for the state.
