Sunrise is a city located in Broward County in the U.S. state of Florida. As of the 2020 census, the population of Sunrise was 97,421, making it the 18th largest city in Florida.

History

Sunrise was founded in 1961 by developers from Milwaukee. They purchased a large tract of swampland for approximately $1 million and developed the original neighborhoods of Sunrise Golf Village and Sunset Strip. The city was officially incorporated in 1967. Learn more about the history of Sunrise.
