History

The area was originally home to the Tocobaga Native Americans until Spanish explorers arrived in the 1500s. It was largely uninhabited until the late 1800s when railroads were built connecting the area to Tampa and St. Petersburg. In 1915, Pinellas Park was incorporated as a city.

During World War II, Pinellas Park experienced major growth as thousands came to work in the nearby shipyards. After the war, the city's population boom continued. Today, Pinellas Park is largely residential with a diverse economy.
