Lake Worth has its origins as a farming community in the early 1900's. Pioneers Samuel and Fannie James were the first settlers to the area in 1911. As of the 2020 census, Lake Worth had a population of 38,623 people. The racial makeup of the city was 65.5% White, 24.9% Black or African American, 0.6% Native American, 1.2% Asian, and 4.3% from two or more races. 34.4% of the population identified as Hispanic or Latino.
