History

Fountainebleau was established in the early 1900s by real estate developers who wanted to create a planned suburban community. It was named after the famous and opulent Fontainebleau Miami Beach resort built by hotelier Morris Lapidus in 1954. The resort helped establish Miami Beach as a luxury vacation destination and inspired the name of the new suburban community.

Fountainebleau grew steadily throughout the 20th century, especially after World War II when South Florida experienced a population boom. Fountainebleau became known as an upscale suburban community with excellent schools, parks, retail centers, and residential neighborhoods. Today it retains its reputation as one of Miami's most desirable places to live.
