History

Vacaville was originally home to the Patwin Native Americans. In 1842, Juan Manuel Vaca arrived in the area and was granted the 16,000 acre Vaca Rancho land grant. In 1850, Vaca sold the land to William McDaniel who founded the town of Vacaville in 1855. The city was incorporated in 1892.
