History

Rocklin has a long history going back to the California Gold Rush era. In 1860, the first U.S. post office opened in the settlement of Rocklin and the city later incorporated in 1893. Early on, Rocklin was known for granite quarrying and agriculture, supplying granite for buildings such as the California State Capitol as well as fruit production.

By 1910, Rocklin's population had reached 1,100 residents. However, the city remained relatively small until the 1980s when it started to grow rapidly into a commuter town for Sacramento. New housing developments were constructed and the population swelled. Today, Rocklin is a vibrant community with a mix of residential neighborhoods, retail centers, parks, and outdoor recreation.
