History

The area that is now Morgan Hill was originally inhabited by the Ohlone people. In the 18th century, Spanish explorers arrived and established missions and ranchos in the region. George Morgan was one early American settler, purchasing land for a ranch in 1842 that eventually became known as Morgan Hill Ranch. In 1906, locals voted to incorporate Morgan Hill as a city.
