Job Description: Top Duties and Qualifications
Petition Projects are brief, yet profitable endeavors where petition collectors play a crucial role in facilitating issues to be featured on the ballot for voters' consideration. Currently, 26 states permit citizen-led ballot initiatives. To place an issue on the ballot, organizations involved in petitioning face a limited timeframe to amass a stipulated number of valid signatures, which then must be submitted to the Secretary of State. Due to the time-sensitive nature of these projects, it is common for organizations to rapidly recruit as many individuals as possible soon after a ballot has been legally filed for collection. Petitioners engage with legally registered voters within a state, encouraging them to sign a 'petition' indicating their support to see the particular issue listed on the upcoming spring or fall ballot. Their signatures not only demonstrate their interest in the topic but also collectively influence the democratic process by determining which issues warrant broader public discussion and voting. Petition Projects are dynamic, fast-paced, and exhilarating experiences. Prior experience is not a prerequisite; petitioners receive comprehensive training to discern valid signatures. Experienced petitioners may accumulate over 30 signatures within an hour, while newcomers can comfortably garner at least five. High-traffic areas, such as concert venues or outside post offices, are ideal locations for petition collection. Typically, voters are enthusiastic to participate in these initiatives, fostering a lively and engaging environment. At Petition Jobs, we specialize in connecting petition collection companies with potential talent. We should note that while we facilitate these connections, we do not directly hire or contract petitioners. If you thrive in dynamic environments and are eager to contribute to the democratic process, we invite you to apply for these roles today!
