History

Arlington was founded in 1876 along the Texas and Pacific Railway. It was named after General Robert E. Lee’s Arlington House in Arlington County, Virginia. Arlington grew as a cotton trading center and became incorporated in 1884. The city has a rich history which can be explored at the Arlington Museum of Art.
