The town of Gilbert, Arizona is located in Maricopa County in the southeast Phoenix metro area. With a population of over 208,000 as of 2010, Gilbert is the 6th largest municipality in Arizona. The town was founded in 1891 by William “Bobby” Gilbert and was incorporated in 1920.

History

Gilbert was founded as a farming community by William “Bobby” Gilbert. The town grew significantly in the 1950s as agriculture shifted to suburban development.
